Summer might be coming to end, but that doesn’t mean the fall season doesn’t have much to offer! In fact, the fall camping season is just as celebrated in the #Rvlife as the summer season – only this time, you get to sip on hot cocoa by the campfire. And with the trees having their beautiful transition, there is no shortage of stunning campsites to visit in Southern BC this season! To make sure you get the most out of your upcoming fall camping adventures, check out our top recommendations of where to camp near Chilliwack!
Located just off of Chilliwack Lake Rd. and running along the banks of Chilliwack River is the stunning campsite of Allison Pool. Here you’ll find seven accommodating campsites that can be reserved throughout the year – including the fall! If you or your family enjoys catching their dinner, the Chilliwack River offers excellent fishing for all species of salmon plus steelhead. For gorgeous, green views, the site has access to the Trans Canada Trail and easy river access for kayakers. Calm pools in the river in summer are a great way to relax and cool off. One thing to note is that ATVs aren’t permitted here but may be tucked away in your toy hauler to ride in the surrounding area.
Tamihi Creek West is a massive open landscape with 88 campground sites. Situated along the banks of the Chilliwack River and partially along the banks of Tamihi Creek, this recreation site is set in a large open grassy area. The site is ideal for RVs as well as tents. This is a popular site with anglers and hikers to access the Trans Canada Trail. The Tamihi Creek Staging area is nearby for motorized users with many trails in the area. For families, the campground includes a rustic playground and horseshoe pits. Plus, they even offer firewood for sale for campfires. For those who love to plan their camping adventures early, Tamihi Creek West takes reservations up to 30 days in advance and up to four days prior to your visit.
For those who really want to unwind, Thurston Meadows is the perfect option. This 76-site campground has a beautiful open meadow and is located along the Chilliwack River and off of Chilliwack Lake Rd. Whether you choose to sleep in your RV or under the stars in your tent, this campsite can accommodate that. For the outdoor enthusiast, Thurston Meadows also provides horseshoe pits, excellent kayaking and fishing, and the direct access to the Trans Canada Trail offers hiking, biking and horseback riding from the site. The kids will also love the rustic playground equipped with a sandbox, swings, and teeter-totter. Since Thurston is a family-oriented campground, there is no atv-ing, but you can bring your ATV and truck them out to the trails.
